Bishop Supports NDAA Bill Passed in House

Statement

Date: May 18, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

In response to the House passage of H.R. 4909, the National Defense Authorization Act for FY 2017 last night, Congressman Mike Bishop (MI-08) issued the following statement:

"The number one responsibility of Congress is to provide for the safety of the American people -- and that includes our members of the Armed Forces. The National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2017 follows through on that by focusing on base and troop readiness and fully-funding their overseas deployment through April of next year. It also grants increases pay for our troops and takes steps to combat sexual assault in the military. These are common-sense measures that will support the brave men and women who put their lives on the line to protect our nation, and I am pleased to support this legislation."
